Carson City road report for Aug. 10-16

The following information applies to the period of Aug. 10-16.

Minnesota Street is now closed to through traffic between King and Second streets. The area will be used as a public space for events.

Due to sidewalk improvements, there will be lane closures at the following locations:

Long Street between Carson and Stewart streets (two-way traffic will be maintained)

The outside northbound lane on Carson Street between Park and Long streets

Fall Street at Long Street (narrow lanes)

Peters Street at Long Street (narrow lanes)

The Nevada Department of Transportation will continue construction of drainage improvements on U.S. Highway 50 W. between the two truck ramps (just west of U.S. 395 to Sierra Highlands Drive). There will be lane closures weekdays, but the roadway will remain open to traffic in both directions.

Little Lane remains closed from Janas Way to Saliman Road for a reconstruction project. The road will remain closed until project completion. Detours are marked.

The E. William Street shared use path project is underway off the street on the south side of William Street between Saliman Road and Gold Dust West Way. It will not impact traffic on William Street; however, vehicles crossing through the construction area are asked to use caution. The path will be closed for the duration of the project and a detour is marked.

Clear Creek Avenue remains closed to through traffic between Lynette Lane and Center Drive due to utility work. Detours are signed and the JAC bus stop on Clear Creek Avenue is temporarily relocated near the intersection of Frontage Road and Clear Creek Avenue.

Utility work will continue Monday through Thursday with closures along Eighth Street between Curry and Minnesota streets, as well as Seventh Street at Minnesota Street, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. There will be flagger controlled traffic.

Work on the construction of the Carson City Freeway continues. Drivers are asked to use caution in the areas around the construction site, particularly along S. Carson Street.

The following impacts are expected due to utility work:

The northbound left turn lane on Carson Street at Hot Springs Road will be closed on Monday

Richard Drive will be closed to through traffic between Norrie and Wagner drives Monday through Thursday

The intersection of Center Drive and Topsy Lane will temporarily become a three-way stop on weekdays to allow for truck crossings

On Friday, Aug. 14, Third Street will be closed between Carson and Curry streets from 2 p.m. to midnight for an event.
