Judge Norm Robison of Gardnerville died Sunday at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

He was 78.

Robison was appointed to a newly created department in Douglas County in 1982 by then Gov. Robert List. He won election to the post twice before retiring in February 1994.

But Robison returned to the bench in 2006 as a senior judge. He served in that position until this past June.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Jim Hardesty described him as “a dedicated, caring and affable public servant.”

“He resolved thousands of cases with dignity and made a major contribution to the Nevada District Judges Association throughout his judicial career,” he said.
