Fallon’s GOP oppose governor’s tax increases

The Churchill County Republican Central Committee Wednesday approved a resolution criticizing Gov. Brian Sandoval’s $1.3 billion tax increases, the largest in Nevada’s history.

The resolution also pointed out that Republican legislators voting for the tax increases went against the state Republican Central Committee’s platform that calls for limited government and fiscal responsibility.

At the same time,the CCRCC thanked and commended Churchill County’s representatives, Assemblywoman Robin Titus and Sen. James Settelmeyer, for voting against the new taxes.

The resolution, approved by members attending the committee’s regular monthly meeting, joins many others from counties around the state and highlights the fact that in voting last November nearly 80 percent rejected a plan to exact a margins tax from Nevada businesses. The vote in Churchill County was 89 percent against the new tax.
