Alan Thompson, age 68, of Carson City, Nevada passed away at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on Saturday, July 25, 2015 after a seven month battle with lung cancer. Alan and Claudette, his wife of 47 years, moved to Nevada in 1969 from Newhall, California. In October of 1970, they were blessed with a baby girl, Wendi Annette. Alan was a professional truck driver and retired in 2007 from Basalite Concrete Products. Alan’s character was beyond reproach. He was an honest and kind man and the best friend anyone could ask for. His hobbies over the years included hunting, fishing, motorcycling the U.S. and Canada on his Honda Goldwing, classic cars, and domestic and international travel. He also loved watching NASCAR races. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Blanche Thompson and sister, Carol Cone. A devoted husband, dad and grandpa, Alan leaves behind his beloved wife, Claudette, cherished daughter, Wendi (Brian) Lunz and two amazing grandchildren Jessica Lunz and Austin Lunz. He is also survived by niece, Kelley Hopkins, nephew, Mike Cone, sisters-in-law, Valerie (Daryl) Leach and Tamie (Robert) Veader and brother-in-law, Robert Kuhn. “Big Al” will be deeply missed by his family and friends. At his request, there will be no service but a Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, August 16 at 1:00 p.m. at his home. Arrangements were in the care of Autumn Funerals & Cremations.
