Esther Marie Newby passed away July 26, 2015 with her loved ones by her side, after battling a lengthy illness with graceful courage. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. She was born in Lewistown, Montana and raised in Washington, Idaho and Montana. She showed amazing strength to all who were blessed to know her. She is preceded in death by her son Gene Newby, mother Kay Lane, and sister Delores Hall. She is survived by her husband Ron Newby, daughter, Lorinda Escobosa, and granddaughter, Siana Love Escobosa. She is also survived by sisters, Tracey Lane Delaplain (Tom). Cheryl Lane Rotter (Mark) and numerous nieces and nephews. Esther retired from the State of Nevada, and after retirement, she worked as a daycare teacher. She always loved caring for babies and toddlers so she opened her own in home daycare. As a member of St Teresa of Avila Church in Carson City and Lifepoint Christian Church, she was always present in, and grounded by her faith, Esther was always hopeful. She was a great friend to many. She was generous with her time in many community groups. Esther volunteered at Mountain Springs/ Skyline Estates senior home, where she called bingo on Fridays. She had a warm welcoming manner, and friends say “she never met a stranger”. She had limitless energy spent in service to others, amazing even those younger than her, with her vitality. A Rosary service is planned Thursday, August 27 at 7pm at the St. Teresa of Avila Chapel , and Celebration of Life services on Friday, August 28 at 11 am in the main church at St. Teresa of Avila in Carson City at 3000 N. Lompa Lane in Carson City. A potluck gathering is planned in the church hall after the services. Feel free to bring a dish to share.
