The robbery case in the Supreme Court. Great amusement was felt upon its being known that a stay of proceedings in the robbery case at Dayton has been ordered by the Supreme Court. It seems the counsel for the defense had prepared a petition to the court for a writ of supersedes, based upon their notification to the District Judge of Lyon County, that an appeal would be taken from his decision denying their motion for a change of venue. They came over here, walked up to two of the Supreme Court judges and got the order for stay of proceedings. The court will decide at 8 o’clock this morning.

Beauty in the kitchen. The day after the ball at McKinney’s the Chinese cooks raised a row about the extra work and McKinney threw one of them out a window. All the Chinese help left the place and the young lady guests volunteered to run the kitchen and wait tables as a lark. As a result the guests found themselves waited on by the fashion and beauty of the Bay. The novelty is proving to be a great attraction.

100 years ago

The carnival company is setting up its shows, concessions and accessories under the auspices of the Carson Band, which will share in the proceeds. The management denies that a man and woman who stole an automobile while the carnival was in Gardnerville had any connection whatsoever with the organization.

70 years ago

Carson City’s newest business establishment, the radio sales and service store of Love and Haight, at 214 N. Carson St., opened for business this week.

30 years ago

George E. Fettic, 71, former resident of Carson Valley, died June 16 at a Roseburg, Ore., hospital. He grew up on a ranch in the Carson City area and was a former owner of the Craddlebough Bridge Ranch.
