The Carson City Animal Services Initiative is hosting its 8th annual Bark, Whine and Dine fundraising event Saturday.
This event is one of CASI’s biggest fundraising efforts to raise money to build a new animal shelter in Carson City. The event is expected to raise around $12,000 to go toward its $200,000 goal to help build the shelter.
The event, happening Saturday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Fuji Exhibit Hall, will feature live music by Ten Dollar Pony, a dinner catered by Carson City BBQ and a quilt and silent auction. The auction will have items donated from the community including gift cards from local businesses, art work and gift baskets.
“We are fortunate because we got a lot of support from the community for this event, so there is a lot of variety for our auction,” said Patti Stewart, fundraiser chairperson for CASI.
At the auction, people also can purchase memory pavers to be put on the new animal shelter when it’s built.
Steward said the point of the event is to have fun and create community support and spirit.
“It’s a fun time,” Stewart said. “Our goal is building shelter, building community because it is not just a shelter, we feel strongly about building community. We want to create a shelter that is fun for people to visit and a place that is humane for the animals.
“Community spirit is important, and we want to celebrate what the community has done to help get this shelter built.”
Tickets for the Bark, Whine and Dine are $30 and can be purchased by calling 775-671-2413, online at www.friendsofcasi.org, or from a CASI volunteer.
