The Governor’s Office of Economic Development has been awarded a $300,000 federal grant to help support its ongoing initiatives in the People’s Republic of China and Poland.

The grant was awarded under the State Trade Export Promotion (STEP) program.

The goal of the GOED programs is to increase not only the number of Nevada businesses exporting but the value of those exports as well.

GOED International Trade Director Kris Sanchez said the grant will “make a huge difference in financially assisting our agencies work in China and Poland.”

Part of the money will be awarded to enable companies to participate in the state-led trade mission to China in March 2016 and a planned May 2016 trip to Poland. Those companies would have to match the grant money, which would help offset travel costs of those trade missions.
