Carson City Marine Corps League raising money for family of fallen Deputy Carl Howell

The Marine Corps League of Carson City Silver State Detachment 630 is holding its annual outreach event Saturday and Sunday at Walmart, 3200 Market St. in north Carson City.

The nonprofit uses donations locally in Carson City, Dayton, Virginia City, Minden and Gardnerville. Half of the donations collected this weekend will go to the family of Deputy Carl Howell, who was killed on the morning of Aug. 15 in the line of duty while responding to a physical domestic disturbance call.

Donations can also be contributed to the Carson City Marine Corps League Silver State Detachment 630 Carl Howell Family Memorial Fund under account No. 2861810311.
