Nevada gasoline price falls again

Nevada’s gasoline pump price hit $2.51 in a survey finished Sunday, GasBuddy.com reported Monday, which the website said was a drop of 1.5 cents from the previous week.

In Carson City Monday, four stations recorded a low price of $2.03 per gallon.

Nationally, according to the gas monitoring website, the price didn’t budget over the past week and was $2.03 a gallon on average.

In Nevada, when you figure in the results of the latest survey of 1,130 outlets, prices on Sunday were 36.5 cents per gallon lower than on the same day a year ago and 20.2 cents a gallon lower than a month ago, according to GasBuddy.com.

Nationally, meanwhile, the average had decreased 18.5 cents per gallon over the past month and was 63.2 cents per gallon lower than it was a year ago.

The website’s petroleum analyst, Patrick DeHaan, said the nation’s average price was on the cusp Monday of dropping to a new low compared with prices in more than six years. He said the $2.032 per gallon recorded Sunday was less than a penny from the $2.025 per gallon that was determined lowest in recent years. He said that goes back to March 25, 2009.

“The national average has once again resumed falling after Turkey’s downing of a Russian fighter jet caused a brief hiatus,” DeHaan said, “but with prices moving lower, a $1.99 national average gasoline price could be something we witness this week.”
