Filmmakers have until Friday, Jan. 8, to enter their work in an Independent Film Competition sponsored by Western Nevada College, the Bob Boldrick Theatre, Carson City Library and the Friends of the Carson City Library. Winners will be shown at WNC during the Carson City International Film Weekend Feb. 18-20.

Selection committee members are looking for films that increase appreciation of cultural differences and understanding of social issues. The films can be narrative or documentary, live action or animation, and foreign or domestic. Non-English films should be subtitled. Filmmakers are restricted to one film in DVD format — not to exceed 90 minutes. The films need to be labeled with the film title, filmmaker’s name and contact information on the front of the disc.

There is no cost to enter the contest, but contestants must fill out an entry form and sign a permission to view form. Send films to Valerie Andersen at WNC’s Carson City Campus.

For an entry form and more information, contact Andersen at Valerie.Andersen@wnc.edu, or 775-445-3222, or email internationalfilmweekend@gmail.com. Forms are also Carson City International Film Weekend’s Facebook page.
