The following cases were heard Tuesday in the Tenth Judicial District Court.

Courtney Lynn Martin has been charged with one count of battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodly hard. She stabbed her husband three times in the chest. A competency evaluation has been ordered for Lake’s Crossing.

Kenneth Michael Estes was sentenced to a DUI diversion program on a charge of driving under the influence third and subsequent offense. According to court records, he has no prior felony convictions. He was placed on probation.

Brian Forest received a prison sentence of two to six years for trafficking a controlled substance, meth, between 4-14 grams.

“That’s a lot of meth to push,” said Judge Tom Stockard. According to court testimony, Forest has 10 prior felony convictions and served six different times in prison.

Shelly L. Medicine-Eagle had her sentence of two-to-five years in the Nevada State Prison suspended. She was placed on five years probation for grand larceny of a vehicle under $3,500. She must also pay $3,675 in restitution.

Jordan Anthony Lopez was removed from the Regional Drug Diversion program. Stockard sentenced him to enter the Regimental Discipline program (boot camp) and to remain in custody.

Cade Ian Warkentin was placed on three years probation for damaging an automobile belonging to Avis Rental. Warkentin caused $4,466 in damages and must pay restitution. Stockard said a Category B felony would be entered on Warkentin’s record. Warkentin had faced one to four years in prison and a fine not to exceed $5,000.

Public defender Jacob Sommer said Warkentin recently became a father and said his client wants to be there for the child.

Karl Steven Baumgras received a suspended sentence for preventing his wife from making a 911 call on her cellphone. The offense carried a prison sentence of one to four years and a fine not to exceed $5,000. Baumgras will be on probation for five years.

Allegedly, according to court testimony, Baumgras stuck a .357 magnum revolver to her head and said he would kill her. Baumgras claims his wife fabricated the story.

A bench warrant for the arrest of Lucas John Lombardo was issued for not appearing in court.

Erick Malcom Kelly received a suspended sentence and probation for possessing a stolen 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. He had faced one to three years in prison and a fine not to exceed $5,000.

Robert Caspit Henry received a suspended sentence on one count of forgery and a second count of attempt to commit burglary. The 19-t0-48-month sentences were to run concurrently, but Henry must complete a veterans’; program in Reno that provides assistance to military veterans. Henry served 21 years in the U.S. Navy.

“This is one of my most difficult cases,” Stockard said. adding once Henry left the Navy, he began committing crimes, most of them felonies.
