Reducing lanes on Carson Street is a mistake
I would like to compliment Val Jensen’s comments in letter to the editor, “Don’t tear up Downtown Carson Street,” in the Appeal dated Dec. 16.
I worked for a utility for 35 years and was involved in dozens of street improvement projects. Never saw a project to reduce a street from four lanes to two. It was always the opposite.
I know our city fathers are bound to implement this foolish project. To prove a point, set up temporary barriers depicting the proposed traffic pattern for 60 days, and let’s see what happens. This approach should settle any questions about traffic congestion. Case closed.
