Marie was a San Franciscan native. She graduated from Notre Dame High School (1933) in San Francisco. She worked as a volunteer nurses aide during WW11, along with working for her brother at A.J. Fritz Company in San Francisco. She became a homemaker after marrying Franklyn T Hunter. Franklyn was a WW11 Veteran and died in 1952. Marie married Austin L Powell in 1956, and was happily married for 42 years. She is predeceased by a baby daughter Barbara Hunter, husband Austin Powell, parents Joseph and Marie Fritz, brothers Emil, Arthur and Walter Fritz. Marie is survived by her loving children: Gary Hunter (Patricia), Dottie Hunter Gough (Terry) & Jay Austin Powell (Patricia), grandchildren: Todd Herman (Kristen), Carrie Howard (Ian), Jay A Powell, Makenna Powell (Dane). Blended family grandchildren from Gary & Patricia include Tom Eck (Elizabeth), John Eck (Angie), Toby Eck (Stacy), Jeff Eck & Kristin Fairbanks (Tim). She is survived by 18 great grandchildren. Marie moved to Carson City, Nevada in 1964 eventually relocating to Reno in 1970. Marie enjoyed traveling with a special trip to her mother’s birthplace in Switzerland. She enjoyed walking, reading and playing cards with her friends at the Promenade on the River. The family would like to thank the care givers with Gentiva and Sierra Place in Carson City. Prayer services will be held at 6pm on February 19, 2015 at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St., Carson City.
