A strong increase Baccarat win fueled a 7.75 percent overall increase in statewide gaming win for January.

Baccarat was up 69.2 percent or $56.3 million to a total of $137.8 million for the month.

Total gaming win was $952.7 million in January.

Because of the impact of Baccarat, the Las Vegas Strip was up 15.4 percent for the month, a total of $576.8 million.

Even with almost no Baccarat tables, Washoe County reported a 12.4 percent increase for the month to $59.9 million.

The 14.2 percent increase in Reno accounted for most of the increase.

This is the fourth consecutive increase in casino win in Washoe. The reasons this month include good Super Bowl business, New Year’s and a favorable calendar.

The brightest spot there was North Lake Tahoe, which reported a 25.8 percent increase to $1.99 million. Gaming Control Board analyst Mike Lawton said both table games and slot win were up dramatically. That translates to a $409,000 increase but a significant reason was January of 2014 was down more than 18 percent from the year before that.

Table games win increased 42.4 percent or $177,000 — a large part of which came from the $110,000 increase in win on the craps tables.

Carson Valley, which includes valley portions of Douglas County, had a 3.8 percent increase to $7.5 million. Slot win increased $190,000 and tablegames win $86,000.

Sports books did especially well in Carson Valley casinos, reporting a 106.7 percent increase to $74,000.

South Shore casinos at Lake Tahoe suffered a 3.8 percent decrease in win, collecting $14.1 million, a decrease of $559,000.

In Churchill County, total win was $1.54 million, a 9.2 percent decrease. Although slot win was down just shy of 7.7 percent to 1.49 million, table games win was sharply down — 40 percent to just $42,000.

There are 10 nonrestricted locations in Churchill, just four of them offering table games and sports play.

Statewide win for the fiscal year through January is down 2.1 percent from the same period the previous year.
