The Fallon Police Department is investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins that apparently started sometime over the weekend, said Capt. Ron Wenger.
He said 14 reports on vehicle break-ins have been submitted to the FPD, and Wenger said officers are following up on leads and reports. Many reports were turned in on Monday.
“The break-ins appear to be occurring on the north side of town,” Wenger said.
He said reports have come from residents spanning from Allen Road to CVS Pharmacy. Other reports have indicated the area around B and Bailey streets have also been hit. Wenger, though, said many motorists said their vehicles were unlocked prior to the vandalism.
So far, Wenger said the vandals have primarily used forced entry through one of the doors to gain entrance to the locked vehicles.
Wenger said people who leave their vehicles parked on the street must lock them and remove any valuables.
He said if residents see any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, they should call the FPD at 775-423-2111.
