A Carson City man was sent to prison for up to four years after being found guilty of attempted battery by a parolee.
Richard Newell, 39, admitted to getting into a physical argument with his wife.
Newell was arrested Oct. 13 after deputies responded to a domestic dispute call from the wife’s friend.
He came to law enforcement’s attention after he allegedly called 911, saying he was a wanted man and would shoot it out with deputies.
He was gone when they arrived, but later that day deputies received a report he’d attacked his wife.
Newell is currently on parole in California on a robbery charge.
His 16-48 month prison sentence in Nevada is to run consecutive to any sentencing that should occur during his parole violation hearing in California.
Newell was given credit for 85 days of time served.
