Fallon’s New School Building. Last Thursday evening marked an epoch in the educational progress of the City of Fallon, the event being an informal reception at the new public school building that has just been completed. The building is centrally located on the east side of Oats Park.

Nevada Has 786 Mines. During the year 1914 Nevada produced 5,357,211 tons of ore, estimated at $37,097,710 by Edward Ryan, state inspector of mines.

S. P. Officials Here—Chance to Sell Horses. Mr. J. M. Fulton, of Reno, stated that a train load of horses was shipped this week from Lovelock for a consignment being assembled at Ogden. It is presumed that these horses are intended for the European countries. Mr. Fulton was informed by some of the buyers that they are paying $90 to $100 for range horses weighing from 900 to 1000 pounds. However, they are buying both light and heavy horses. It would seem that the opportunity is offered to people of Churchill County who have horses for sale to make a deal.

Local Events and News about Your Neighbors. •The United Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary’s card party is being held tonight at the V. F. W. hall. •Miss Alma Strauss entertained her sewing club at her home yesterday, with delicious refreshments served at the close of the afternoon. •The Misses Virginia and Edna Pflum were hostesses at a delightful party at the Pflum ranch home last Saturday evening when guests were Mr. and Mrs. Pflum, the Misses Alice Wade, Alma Strauss and Wilda Pflum, and Harry Stuart, Earl Nygren, Joe Verga, Harold Rogers and Tommy Pflum. •Mrs. Gene Paul and Mrs. Art Downs were the holders of high scores at the A. A. club meeting entertained this week by Mrs. Downs.•Miss Maxine Berney,• who has been attending school at College Place, Wash., is to spend the third quarter of the school year with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Berney in Fallon. She will return to school in March. ●•Mrs. Ira L. Kent, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Tom Dolf, her aunt Mrs. Margaret Spinas and Mrs. Gow, drove to Reno Thursday to visit Mr. Dolf in St. Mary’s hospital. Mr. Dolf is much improved in health and expects to come home soon.

On Honor Roll. Wm. J. Hatton, Don Townsend and Martin Hannifan of Fallon were on the honor roll announced this week at the state university. Hatton made a grade of 1.37; Townsend made 1.53 and Hannifan 1.58.

5.6% Increase in Churchill Population. Churchill County has shown an increase of 5.6% in population during the last 12 months. Nevada retained its title as per capita growth in 1964. Nevada has been recognized as the national growth leader, on a per capita basis, every year since the 1960 census.

Retail Sales Surpass National Average. How well did Churchill County residents make out, economically in the past fiscal year? For the majority of local families, incomes were higher than before and more money was available for discretionary spending. As a result, it turned out to be a banner year for most retail business.
