Carson City Sheriff’s Office seeks registration for 2015 Citizen’s Academy

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has scheduled the next Citizen’s Academy to begin Feb. 25.

The academy explains to interested citizens what the sheriff’s office does and why it’s done that way as well as the role the community plays in policing.

Interested citizens must be at least 18 years old with a preference to Carson City residents. A spokesman said local merchants and senior citizens may be especially interested.

There’s no charge for the academy. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Feb. 20. Applications are available at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at 911 East Musser or call Ken Smith at 887-2020, extension 41932.
