Eugene had passed away at his home in San Lorenzo, CA, December 27, 2014. Eugene was born August 01, 1927 in Stillwater, NV to Willie M. Steve, Sr. and Maggie Cushman Steve. Eugene was a member of the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe. At the age of 19 had enlisted in the US Marines then enlisted in the US Navy as an electrician working on several ships from the USS Enterprise, Shangri-La, and Coral Sea, etc. and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Eugene had met Flora at the Chief’s Club in Alameda, CA and then married in 1967 made his home in San Lorenzo, CA where he remained. Eugene retired from the US Navy in 1979 after 22 years and began working for United Airlines at the San Francisco International Airport. He eventually retired from United Airlines. He had started his own business called Steve’s Electric where he worked part-time in the mornings and on Saturdays assisting small businesses and local home owners. He remained active walking several miles every morning and playing softball with the local senior teams. He was passionate about Politics, going fishing and was an avid Oakland A’s fan season ticket holder. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife Flora, his father Willie M. Steve, Sr. mother Maggie Cushman Steve, brothers Russell Steve Sr., Bill Steve Sr., sister Inabelle Stirnemann. He is survived by his daughter Genia Steve Williams (Tad Williams Sr.), grandchildren William “Bill” Frank Jr., Kevin Frank, Joseph Frank (Billie Rose Frank), Schurz, NV, brother Dell Steve, Fallon, NV, step-daughter Margaret Bennett, Castro Valley, CA, and step-grandchildren Angela Scheid, San Lorenzo, CA, Danielle Keeling, Danville, CA, Keri Shaw, Modesto, CA, step-grandchildren Tayler, Matthew and Madelyn, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at The Gardens Funeral Home - 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV, 89406 on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1:00pm. A dinner will be held at the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribal Gymnasium directly after the services. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
