Mile High Jazz Band presenting workshop to Carson middle, high school students

The Mile High Jazz Band is presenting a free half-day jazz workshop for Carson middle school and high school instrumental students from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Carson Middle School, 1140 W. King St.

The workshop will give students an introduction to jazz technique and an opportunity for hands-on experience playing with professional musicians. Sessions include jazz rhythm with drummer Lee Warner, scales and chords with saxophonist Nat Kline, and improvisation with trumpeter Jef Derderian.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council.
