Capital City Community Band is performing Sunday to raise money for its operating expenses.
Capital City Community Band will present its “Help the Band Play On” concert — which willpays for the band’s liability insurance and other expenses — at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Carson City, at Division and King streets.
The concert will feature vocalists Sonja and Curtis Radig performing “As Time Goes By.” There will also be a salute to the men and women of the armed forces.
Admission will be free, but donations will be taken.
“We remain dedicated to providing free musical entertainment but now have financial obligations we did not have in the past. This concert helps us to meet those new obligations while still providing free concerts to our community,” said Richard Doede, the band’s founder and director.
Capital City Community Band, a nonprofit, has been performing free concerts since 1978.
