Child wonder. Little Idalene Cotton who appears with Ben Cotton, her father, at the Carson opera house is a child wonder. As a rule, “child-wonders” are simply detestable, but Miss Idalene is the only one who appears free from that dreadful self-consciousness that accompanies juvenile precocity. She is a born actress and imitator.

Olinghouse Canyon. The mills are running at full capacity and showing bigger bodies of ore than ever. The Springfield-Nevada, Morning Star, Ora and other properties are showing ore that will keep the mills running for years (Journal).

Three feet. The snowstorm left over three feet of snow on the summit of Lucky Boy grade. Bodie has over five feet of snow. The road is closed, and it is hoped that relief workers will be able to open it to traffic (Hawthorne News).
