“Pony” King and his wife have lost their little son, Orrin, to scarlet fever. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Friend lost one of their twin babies by this dreadful malady. The little sufferer died yesterday, and the surviving twin is still seriously sick.

Bugologist. Col. Fisher of Wells runs a famous bedbug incubator and comes here on official business to investigate the Manilla itch. It is alleged Sen. Gallagher brought it to the capital from Mason Valley. The insectivorous will pursue his microscopical investigations and report to the governor.

Oklahoma. A new language will be taught at Northeastern State College. Approval to teach the Cherokee Indian language was granted by state regents for higher education on a noncredit basis.

Golden Globes. “American Beauty” captured best drama; “Toy Story 2,” best comedy movie; Jim Carrey was named best movie comedy actor for “Man on the Moon;” best dramatic film actress was Hilary Swank in “Boys Don’t Cry.”
