Cancer Warriors are still fighting cancer.
The recipients of this year’s fundraiser are Haylie Chmela and Dean Brownell. Chmela is suffering with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma and Brownell is fighting stage four-tongue cancer. Both individuals are also facing the high cost of treatment.
The annual Redneck Shindig was moved from September to Aug. 1 this year so it isn’t competing with other events held that same weekend. However, the shindig will be coinciding with the Ranch Hand Rodeo at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. The all-day event begins with a Redneck 5K race at 6:30 a.m. Fun and games begin at 8 a.m.
The events are still being planned, however, the custom car show, the 5K race and watermelon eating contest are being brought back. In the works is a human foosball game and a few other fun activities. There will be food and other vendors.
Vendors and volunteers are still able to apply. For information, call 775-629-2629 or email cancerwarriorsscn@gmail.com.
