Jacqueline Kuhre and Charles Wesley Borders of Carson City celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June 28.
The Borders, who met as teenagers in 1937 when Jacqueline spent a summer with her grandparents in San Antonio, Texas, were married on June 28, 1945, in Loveland, Colo.
Charles served 30 years in the United States Air Force, in which he flew more than 500 combat missions in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1972 at the rank of Colonel. He was stationed in Washington, Texas, California, Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi, Okinawa, Japan, Korea and Vietnam.
Jacqueline spent 26 years as an Air Force wife, moving around the world.
The couple has two sons, Charles W. Borders, Jr., married to Jeri, of Carson City; and Michael G. Borders, married to Marsha, of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Events for family and friends hosted by the Borders’ children and grandchildren took place to celebrate the anniversary.
