This year’s Fourth of July went smoothly for local law enforcement.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said that their holiday weekend was uneventful, except for a fight that broke out Saturday night at Menlo Drive.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said though there were a few altercations at the Stateline casino core, Nevada Beach and Zephyr Cover Beach, the large crowds were relatively well behaved. A total of 37 people were arrested county wide this weekend for charges including trespassing, battery, larceny, domestic battery, DUI, disorderly conduct, minor consuming alcohol and other traffic related issues.
Marine 7 did respond to a water rescue when three people overturned a jet ski a mile from the Lake Tahoe shore. All three were transported to the shore for paramedics with the symptoms of hypothermia.
Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini extends his gratitude to all agencies who participated in this year’s holiday weekend.
Joining Forces, held in Douglas County on Highway 50 at Spooner Summit, found four people driving under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol out of over 2,000 vehicles that passed the checkpoint from 2:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. on July 4.
