Carson City Sheriff’s Log: Man claiming to be director of FBI arrested

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

THURSDAY

At 1:44 p.m., Jim Banuelos, 45, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of being a fugitive from justice in California and as an ex-felony failing to register in Carson City. The Santa Clara County Superior Court warrant says he’s accused of felony annoying or molesting a child under age 18 and battery.

Banuelos told the arresting officer the warrant was a mistake and, “I can’t be arrested, I’m the director of the FBI.” He was ordered held without bail pending extradition to California.

At 5:17 p.m., a 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery-first offense, after allegedly assaulting another person at a residence on Cambridge Court. The victim is the grandson of the woman living at the home and the suspect is her boyfriend. Bail was set at $3,000.

At 5:48 p.m., Anthony Ross, 31, was arrested on suspicion of a felony warrant out of California charging probation violation after deputies were dispatched a gas station on south Carson Street for a report of a subject causing a disturbance. He was ordered held without bail.

At 11:19 p.m., Joel Diaz-Ceja, 29, was arrested on suspicion of with felony home invasion allegedly entering the Airport Road home of his estranged wife. The arrest report says he has restraining orders barring him from contact with her and is on probation. She told deputies one of her children let him in through the locked sliding glass door and once inside he pulled out a knife and threatened to harm himself. He was held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

FRIDAY

At 12:51 a.m., Carina Ruiz-Mora, 30, was arrested on suspicion of drug charges after security at Jackpot Crossing reported she and another woman were causing a problem with security and refusing to leave. A records check found she was on alternative sentencing with a no alcohol or drugs clause. A search of her purse revealed a meth pipe, according to the arrest report and two baggies containing a white powder resembling meth. She was charged with felony possession, possession of paraphernalia and violating alternative sentencing conditions. Total bail was set at $6,500.
