Carson City Sheriff’s Office: Woman arrested on suspicion of battery and assault

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court. Carson City FRIDAY At 9:20 a.m., a 33-year-old Albuquerque, N.M., man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct after deputies responded to reports of a man threatening and cursing staff at the Long Street FISH Thrift Store. Bail was set at $150

Carson City drug ring members enter guilty and no contest pleas in court

Six of the individuals involved in a major drug bust in March entered guilty or no contest pleas in District Court Monday. Elvin Fred, Tawnee Johnson, James Tito, Michelle Rendleman, Aaron Jalbert and Christopher Landry were all arrested after Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force raided a house on the 3500 block of Desatoya Drive in early March. Authorities seized nearly 11 ounces of methamphetamine with a street value of more than $30,000.

In & Out fracas prompts arrest

What was described as a “melee” by deputies resulted in an arrest Sunday night at the In & Out Burger in Indian Hills. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight involving around two-dozen people at Carson Valley Plaza at 10 p.m.

Dominic George Tanzi

Dominic George Tanzi passed away on May 19th 2015, at the age of 92, in Minden, NV surrounded by his 3 children and their wives. Dominic was born February 22, 1923 in Redwood City, CA to Dominic Tanzi and Palma Tanzi (Tofanelli) Dominic entered the Marine Corp in WWII at the age of 16, lying about his age. At the age of 17 he became the youngest Master Technical Sergeant in Marine Corp history. His battle honors include Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian.

Carson City taxable sales jump double-digits in April

Thanks to a huge jump in sales of building materials, Carson City reported a 13.6 percent increase in taxable sales in April. Capital merchants sold $10.77 million worth of building materials, a 49.3 percent increase over the same month of 2014.

THURSDAY At 4:11 p.m., a 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of driving on license revoked and an out of agency warrant after deputies responded to reports of a possible intoxicated driver near 1600 Medical Parkway. Bail was set at $3,415.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office: Man arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court. TUESDAY At 3:59 a.m., a 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer, driving on a suspended license and fictitious registration and a 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer after deputies initiated a traffic stop near the Highway 50 AM/PM. Bail for the 22-year-old was set at $850 and bail for the 19-year-old was set at $300.

Lyon County Detention Center inmate dies Wednesday

A Lyon County Detention Facility inmate died Wednesday after being found not breathing and unconscious in his cell. Dylan Wanderer, 23, had been arrested on burglary and destroying property charges on June 23 and was being held at the detention center, according to a press release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found Wanderer unconscious around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He died on scene, said Michael Carlson, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Administration director. His death is believed to be a suicide.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office works to improve Alzheimer’s safety

The Carson City Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team will take part in training for handling wandering persons cases. The training will be working in conjunction with Jacob Harmon, director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern Nevada, to participate in the Wandering Prevention Program, to help train in effective tracking, identification, special needs and other skills needed when searching for people with Alzheimer’s and other related impairments.

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court. MONDAY At 7:40 a.m., David Albertson, 21, was arrested on suspicion of felony sale of a controlled substance, two counts of felony trafficking 4-14 grams, felony trafficking 14-28 grams and possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $50,000.

Not only do they wear their pajamas anywhere and anytime, they dress their children in the same manner. There’s only one word to describe this fashion, it’s tacky. Maybe I’m just not in step with today’s trends.

Carson City District Attorney dismisses William Dresser murder charges

The Carson City District Attorney made a motion Thursday afternoon to dismiss murder charges for William Dresser. Dresser was charged with open murder with the use of a deadly weapon in January 2014 for the murder of his wife, Frances Dresser, after fatally shooting her. Frances had been in the hospital paralyzed from the neck down after suffering a severed spinal cord from a fall in her home. She had expressed interest in committing suicide to friends and medical professionals after receiving the prognosis she would be a quadriplegic the rest of her life, according to the motion to dismiss

Carson City’s Joining Force works to reduce speeding

The Carson City Sheriff’s Department held its June Joining Forces event Friday, aimed at reducing and teaching residents about speeding. Woman involved in drug ring enters guilty plea

The first of nine people involved in an alleged major drug bust pleaded guilty in Justice Court Friday afternoon. With this deal, all other charges were dismissed.

At the same incident a Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery-first offense. Bail for Heddy was set at $31,000 and bail for the man was set at $3,000.

Possible retrial for 20 year old Carson City murder case

A 20-year-old murder case may be retried by the Carson City District Attorney’s office because an incomplete jury instruction violated the defendant’s rights. On Aug. 31, 1995, 14-year-old Peter Elvik, of Carson City allegedly took a 12-gauge shotgun and went to the Carson City Gun Range where he shot and killed 62-year-old William Gibson. Elvik took Gibson’s pistol and car and drove to Costa Mesa, Calif., to meet a girlfriend, where police apprehended him the following day.

Two plead in Carson City Walmart robbery case

Two individuals responsible for multiple robberies entered guilty pleas Tuesday in court. Priscilla Roches, Ashley Dadey, Jessica Sanchez-Melendrez and Pablo Martinez, all of Reno were arrested May 3 after Dadey and Sanchez-Melendrez attempted to rob the Market Street Walmart where they fled in a getaway car driven by Roches and Martinez. Carson City court clerk, Little League agent arrested on statutory sexual assault with a minor

A Carson City court clerk and Little League official was arrested Friday night on suspicion of statutory sexual assault with a minor. Deputies discovered Armando Navarro, 25, in a car with a 15-year-old male after responding to a report of shots fired in the area of Cottonwood Drive and Cedar Street at 10:57 p.m. Deputies found the two in Navarro’s car when they spotted movement in the vehicle and investigated while responding to the shots fired call. Deputies said Navarro was in the car shirtless and the boy was naked when they were found. Both allegedly admitted to be preparing to have intercourse in the car when they were found.

Nevada Legislature: Budget bill repeals language mandating Supreme Court reduction

Without a public hearing or discussion of its cost, lawmakers added language to the Appropriations Act repealing the statute mandating Nevada’s Supreme Court shrink from seven to five members. The language in NRS2.010 says the high court must be reduced if and when an Intermediate Appellate Court is approved by the voters.
