Carson City’s Empty Bowls, a program that helps feed the hungry, is hosting a bowl making pottery event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St.
Admission to the museum is not required to join in at the event, whose admission is free.
Empty Bowls will also be featured at the Third and Curry St. Farmers Market Saturdays through Sept. 19. Bowls are limited to 60 people per week; availability is based on a first come, first served basis. Some Saturday’s will include demonstrations on a pottery wheel.
The program is looking for local businesses, organizations and private donors to match the donation jar at each of its events throughout the year. Last year, Empty Bowls raised $7,600, six times more than the year before. It aims to surpass that amount this year.
