It was the final test before the state rodeo.
On Saturday, Caleb Hendrix took down the boys cutting title, while brother Cord placed second at the Wells High School Rodeo.
In the team roping, Jes Tews and Fernley’s Dominic Ceresola took the top spot, while Caleb Hendrix and Cord Hendrix placed third and Mackay Spyrow and Jordan Taylor (Moapa) were fourth.
In the tie-down roping, Cord Hendrix placed third, Matt Goings took sixth and Sam Goings was ninth. Joleen Weir came in second in breakaway roping, while Leighton Beyer placed eighth and added a sixth-place finish in barrels racing.
On Sunday, Spyrow and Taylor won the team roping event, while Spyrow was also third in tie down. The Goings brothers took second in team roping to give Fallon three of the top four.
Cord Hendrix added another win for Fallon in boys cutting, while Caleb Hendrix took second. Cord Hendrix also took second in bull riding in addition to a sixth-place finish in tie down.
In the barrel racing, Beyer placed seventh and placed eighth with Dally Goemmer (Battle Mountain) in team roping. The next rodeo for the high school team will be the state finals, which runs Friday through Sunday in Ely. The top four in each event qualify for the National High School Rodeo Finals, while those who finish fifth through 10th qualify for the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca.
