Did you know June is Men’s Health Month? In order to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys, Carson City Health and Human Services is proud to join healthcare providers across the country to recognize Men’s Health Month.
When it comes to staying healthy, there are some things you can do for yourself — be sure you’re staying active, eating right, and getting enough sleep. Taking these steps to look after yourself can help reduce your risk for chronic health conditions and ensure you’re on your “A” game. There are some things, though, you need a healthcare professional for — screening for conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and certain types of cancer; and immunizations to protect against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Have you been avoiding a trip to your healthcare provider? Well, now is the time to man up. Many health conditions can be prevented or detected early with regular checkups. Screenings may include blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, prostate health and more. The Health Department offers general and sexual health screenings, as well as HIV testing and STD checks at our Men’s Clinic. The Men’s Clinic is offered on Monday evenings from 4-6 p.m. by appointment.
Carson City Health and Human Services wants to do everything we can to help you stay healthy. That’s why Monday evenings from 4-6 p.m., our clinic is dedicated exclusively to men’s health. After-work hours are set aside to make attending as hassle-free as possible. As a patient, you can expect excellent care from trained medical professionals and up-to-date information on current health tips to keep your body in the best possible condition.
Our staff wants you to feel comfortable during your appointment. In addition to our clinical services, we offer confidential partner notification, brief medical counseling, and if necessary, referrals to other healthcare providers to meet your needs.
Father’s Day is also this month, but we realize fatherhood isn’t for everyone. If you’re not ready to start a family, the clinic can provide family planning services, which include medical counseling, referrals, and safe-sex kits. We’re here to answer your questions and provide everything you need to help you feel comfortable about your choice for now and for the future.
Anyone can be unhealthy. It takes a real man to take charge of his health. To make an appointment for our men’s clinic or regular clinic hours, call 887-2195.
