Dec. 1 trial date set for man accused of sexual assault

Drake Martin entered a not guilty plea on all charges Monday morning in Carson City District Court.

Martin is charged with sexual assault against a child under the age of 14 years, three counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 16 years and four other sexual related charges.

Martin is accused of having sexual intercourse with a minor from December 2014 to February 2015.

He is scheduled to go to trail Dec. 1 in order to give the defense enough time to prepare after maternity leave and order a psychological exam for the victim.

Also on Monday, Jordan Schroeder entered a guilty plea to sexual assault against a child under the age of 16, statutory sexual seduction and luring a child. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 31 in order to conduct a psycho-sexual exam on Schroeder.

Christopher Maddox was sentenced to 12-25 months in prison for battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, battery with a deadly weapon and battery causing substantial bodily harm. Maddox plead guilty to the charges on April 15. He shoved a club-like item down the victim’s throat, causing injuries to his teeth, jaw and windpipe.

“I’m sorry for what I did, but I was reacting out of fear and I took it too far,” Maddox said in court Monday.
