Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson is continuing his call for major changes to the country’s tax code and a more prominent American role in world affairs.
The retired pediatric neurosurgeon touched on several policy topics and discussed his own background during a speech Tuesday at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Carson outlined several of his proposals to a crowd gathered outside the school’s student union. The ideas include a six-month corporate tax holiday, decreasing the government’s say in federal money given to states and creating a “flat tax” based on the biblical concept of tithing.
Carson is scheduled to speak at a national gathering of Latino leaders in Las Vegas on Wednesday. He also spoke at a Las Vegas charity fundraiser in May.
