A splendid fish. We saw, yesterday, the handsomest specimen of a Lake Bigler trout that has come under our notice and potato-trap. It weighed upwards of 12 pounds and was captured by that youthful and ardent whaler, Jeemes Gray, the proprietor of the Sazerac menagerie.

Hell. Being the regular official organ of the County of Ormsby, we deemed it our duty to announce that hell had been knocked out. We supposed that the devil had been deposed for “offensive partisanship” under the new Civil Service Reform rules, and the station abolished. This announcement had a marked effect upon the people of this city, a good many quit paying their subscriptions.

Miss Sadie Grant, a second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Grant of this city and until recently a bookkeeper for the Carson News, was married at Needles, Calif., yesterday afternoon to W.S. Porterfield, a mining man of Oatman, Ariz.

Jim Thorpe, 57, one of the greatest athletes of all time, has joined the merchant marine, the only service that would take him at his age, his wife disclosed today.

We Goofed! In the Sunday Graphic of June 20, a photo appearing was labeled as the community of Hawthorne. It was really a photo of Main Street in Yerington. We are assured that both Yerington and Hawthorne are still where they always were and have not suddenly changed places.

A 5,000 square foot building that would provide a place for industrial arts and machine technology is being offered to Western Nevada Community College as a gift from the American Building Company of Carson City.
