Community spotlight: Carson City soccer club wins title

The Carson Futbol Club U-15 squad won the Northern California Spring Showcase last weekend.

The local squad outscored its opponents 17-1 in four games. Carson beat Mustang SC Arsenal, 3-1, to win the championship.

Carson beat Juventus SC Blanco 6-0, Palo Alto SC 5-0 and Davis Legacy 3-0 to reach the championship game.

The team is coached by Frank Martinez.

Packers win league, tournament titles

The Packers won their last two regular-season games and then won two tournament games to sweep the Talents Indoor Flag Football championships.

In the regular-season finales, the Packers beat the Cowboys, 63-36, and the Broncos, 39-13,

Zach Guthrie threw five TD passes combined in the two wins. Alex and Dayna Myrehn combined for four scores, Decarlo Quintana had four scores, Parker Story finished with two, and Caid Milligan and Quentin Beck had one each.

In the playoff opener, a 48-12 win over the Giants, Alex Myrehn had three scores and Quintana had two. Guthrie threw two TD passes and scored three times. Keagan Ferris contributed an interception.

In the championship game, the Packers beat the Cardinals, 45-26, as Guthrie had six TD pases, four to Alex Myrehn and two to Story. Quintana contributed three interceptions.
