Gov. Brian Sandoval has named Robert Davidson, founder of the Davidson Academy, to fill the Board of Regents seat vacated by Ron Knecht.
Knecht resigned from the District 9 seat when he won election to the office of State Controller in November.
“Bob Davidson has supported Nevada’s education system for many years through his philanthropic efforts and as founder of the Davidson Academy of Nevada,” Sandoval said.
He said Davidson would bring a fresh perspective through his business expertise and understanding of Nevada’s students.
The Davidson Academy is a school located on the UNR campus and serves profoundly gifted middle and high school students.
He lives in Incline Village.
District 9 represents Washoe County, Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Storey and Esmeralda counties.
