A 19-year-old Silver Springs resident died Sunday in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 50 Alternate about one mile south of Fernley High School.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said Isis Aline Fetty was traveleing northbound in a 1988 Mercedes Benz with two passengers, Allyson Marie F. Tansler, 40, and a 12-year-old girl.

The NHP preliminary investigation reports a black 2008 Saturn sedan driven by Megan Constance Amirr, 27, of Fernley was traveling southbound on the highway when for unknown reasons her sedan crossed over the center line where it struck Fetty’s vehicle.

According to the NHP, Fetty was pronounced deceased at the scene. Tansler was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Central Lyon County ambulance with serious non-threatening injuries. The 12-year-old girl was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene. All occupants of the Mercedes were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The NHP added Amirr was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was transported to Renown with non-life threatening injuries by ambulance.

U.S. Highway 50A was blocked in both directions for several hours while the NHP investigated and diagrammed the crash scene.

The NHP further stated the possibility of a controlled substance is being investigated as a factor in the cause of this accident. Charges are pending.

INTERSTATE 80 ACCIDENT

Milton A. Robertson, 60, of Winnemucca, was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 80 near Painted Rock, seven miles west of Fernley.

The NHP said Robertson was traveling eastbound in the left lane next to another motorcycle rider, Mark Steven Robertson, 46, also of Winnemucca.

According to the NHP’s preliminary report, which was released on Tuesday, both riders attempted to change lanes from the left to the right and observed a black colored vehicle passing in the right lane. As both riders attempted to steer back into the left lane, Milton Robertson lost control of his motorcycle and struck the north side guardrail, where he was ejected from his motorcycle.

Mark Robertson pulled to the south shoulder and stopped to assist the downed rider. Milton Robertson’s motorcycle came to rest in the right eastbound travel lane about 90 feet East of where it struck the guardrail.

Emergency crews were called to the scene where they attempted lifesaving efforts, but Milton Robertson died from his injuries at the scene.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating both accidents.
