Vendors needed

For the 15th year, Soroptimist International of Fallon presents the Home, Garden and Recreation Show on April 17-18 at the Fallon Convention Center.

Vendors are wanted for the spring event. Indoor and outdoor spaces are available. Proceeds from the Home, Garden and Recreation show will benefit the Domestic Violence Intervention, Students in Transition, and the local Soroptimist Scholarship Program. Soroptimist International is an organization for women donating their time and talents to doing what is best for women. Storytime

Join us for Storytime at the Churchill County Library each Wednesday at 11 a.m. The program includes stories, songs and a craft.


Logos kindergarten

Logos Christian Academy, a private Christian school located at 665 Sheckler Road, is presently applications for kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year.

Amateur radio

The Amateur Radio of Churchill County (ARCC) invites all current amateur (Ham) radio operators or anyone interested in amateur radio to its monthly meeting, which is on the first Tuesday of the month at the Churchill County Administrative Complex, conference room 102, 155 N. Taylor St.

Amateur radio operators are invited to attend a weekly NET on Sundays at 6 p.m. at repeater 146.97 with a PL of 103.5 Hz to exchange information relating to general amateur radio topics.

Informal breakfast meeting and social on the third Sunday of every month at 8 a.m. at The Eagles Hall on the Reno Highway.

All current amateur (HAM) radio operators or anyone interested in getting their amateur (HAM) radio license come to our bi-monthly Volunteer Examination (Testing) Session, held on the third Saturday (March 21) of every other month.

Community Service Thrift Shop

The Community Service Thrift Shop at 169 E. Center Street is open 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. each weekday.

We are a non-profit organization run by a group of dedicated community volunteers. We do not have room for bicycles, beds, couches or large televisions.

We will close the shop by the end of March after 28 years of service and assistance to the community.

Clearance sales all month and the shop display fixtures are also being sold to be removed before March 31. We are not receiving donations.

Blue Sky Thrift Store

The Blue Sky Thrift Store (formerly Fallon Humboldt Shredders) is located at 290 S. Maine St. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Bagged clothing sales, $4 per plastic shopping bag full of clothing available on Saturdays.

Drop-offs are made at the store location. Proceeds help provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities and families in need through community voucher programs.


Stuf ’n Such Thrift Store

The Stuf ‘n Such Thrift Store, owned and operated by Banner Churchill Community Hospital Auxiliary, is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 99 S. Nevada St., 775-423-6446. Donations are accepted Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

There are two Proms coming up soon. Don’t let the cost of proms stress you out. We have everything you’ll need for the special occasion, and it’s all free to students who come shopping with a parent.

Senior prom is scheduled for April 4. We have everything you’ll need for this occasion in our “Prom Closet”. Just call or come by to schedule an appointment. It’s all free to any student with a current school I.D. accompanied by a parent or guardian! New items: Come see our vintage collection. The nonprofit organization raises funds to benefit BCCH and other health-related events. Check out the new Facebook page at BCCH Auxiliary Store “Stuf ‘n Such.”

American Legion

The American Legion at 90 N. Ada St., Friday night dinners are open to the public. A $5 donation is asked.

FRA meetings

The Fleet Reserve Association is an active opponent of the Sea Services, Navy, Marine Corp and Coast Guard, active duty,retired or any who served a tour of duty.

Marine Corps League

The High Desert Detachment of the Marine Corps League meets the first Saturday each month at noon at the VFW Hall, 405 S. Maine St.

TOPS Club

All quilters are welcome. We meet weekly to make donation quilts, as well as working on our own projects.


Bereavement Support Group

Eden Hospice (Formerly XL Hospice): Drop in Bereavement Support Group meetings for the newly bereaved on the second Tuesdays of every month at 5:30 p.m. and the second Wednesdays of every month at noon. Groups meet at the office on 570 South Maine St.

MOPS meeting

Are you the Mother of a Preschooler, birth to 5 yrs.? Do you need a break a couple of times a month?

We hope at our meetings moms will find encouragement, support, relevant teaching, and opportunities to develop relationships with other women who are in the same stage of life. MOPS meets 10 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at Parkside Bible Fellowship.

Child support enforcement

Child support enforcement services are available through the Churchill County District Attorney’s office.

The staff may be able to help establish parentage and help obtain a child support order to include medical support. Pick up an application at the Churchill County Child Support Office at 165 N. Ada St., or visit www.churchillcounty.org and follow the links to the District Attorney’s Child Support Division.

Help Churchill County “Celebrate” our local talent! Artists, photographers, artisans of all genre are invited to showcase their work at the County’s Administration Complex.
