Carson City to honor Vietnam War veterans

Memorabilia from the Vietnam War and a slew of military vehicles will be featured at a Vietnam Veterans Day celebration, sponsored by Carson City Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 388, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Nevada Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Mills Park.

The event will feature three Vietnam era helicopters — a Bell AH-1G, or “Cobra;” a Boeing CH-47, or “Chinook;” and a Bell UH-1 Iroquois, or “Huey.”

There will be a display of memorabilia and photos of the Vietnam War and an exhibit of other military vehicles.

A welcome home ceremony at 5 p.m. will honor veteran service men and women and also those who never made it home.

A no host bar and appetizers will be served following the celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Carson Nugget.
