Las Vegas police say they aren’t targeting any members of the Nevada Legislature as part of a political extortion investigation.
Police issued a statement Friday saying the investigation into alleged extortion against Republican Assemblyman Chris Edwards is continuing but officers aren’t targeting any members of the Legislature.
Police said one of the goals of the investigation was to learn the facts without disrupting the legislative process
Edwards alerted police in December about being approached to change his vote for the Assembly Speaker. Police have executed search warrants and seized property from a number of conservative Las Vegas advocates involved with the case.
Edwards was elected in November to fill an Assembly seat left vacant by Republican Congressman Crescent Hardy.
