Most who sign up for healthcare through the HealthCare.Gov are getting a request for information to confirm their eligibility for the subsidy they get that helps pay their healthcare premiums.
Most commonly, they are asked for proof of income, proof of address and proof of citizenship. When you get the letter, be sure to respond to it. Some are having their insurance cancelled because they have not complied.
So when you get the letter, take it seriously. We offer our clients use of our facilities to make copies of their necessary items and help in mailing them.
Call us at 775-450-6769, 775-450-6867, 775-450-7754 , 702-721-3657 or come by our office at 2307 North Carson Street in Carson City, if you need help. Even if we did not sign you up originally, come by and we will help.
On a related item, a Special Enrollment Period started on March 15 and continues through April 30. It is for those who did not have insurance last year and are now getting notices of fines. Many thought the fine would be just $95, but are finding it can be much more. If you want to avoid even heavier fines for 2015, you have until April 30 to sign up for a plan that meets Affordable Care Act requirements.
We help individuals on and off the exchange. Just this week, United Healthcare joined those allowing sales off the exchange during the SEP. Even if you don’t qualify for a subsidy, you are allowed to go through HealthCare.Gov to choose a policy. Some companies are only allowing sales through the government website.
Ron Bliss is a former long-time sports writer who has been selling health insurance the last five years. He is certified on both the Nevada Health Link and for Covered California and can help customers on or off those exchanges with a variety of healthcare products, including a variety of Medicare supplements. Other agents at Affordable Healthcare Pros are also available to assist you. Our main number is 775-883-3414.)
