With Mother’s Day on Sunday, it’s crunch time for children and their fathers to find the perfect gift if they already haven’t done so.
The fourth annual Mother’s Day extravaganza held Wednesday night at the Fallon Convention Center featured more than 25 vendors who offered a little bit of everything for Mother’s Day gifts.
Crystal Smotherman, the event’s organizer, said the turnout this year was great.
“We had a great number of vendors and attendees come tonight,” she said. “I think individuals will have an easy time finding a gift for their mother since there is so much to choose from. I’m thankful for the local business that donated items for the drawing prize. That gift is valued at more than $600.”
The theme of the extravaganza appeared to be health. Local businesses selling gym memberships to essential oils were in attendance.
Body Balance Wellness Center’s Anna Williams had a booth set up with doTERRA essential oils. She was providing free testing with the Bio Energy Feedback Tester, which is a device that is able to read your body to let her know what oils would work best for that individual.
“These oils are a great present because they are made with pure ingredients that can help with health issues,” she said. “The oils can help people with stress to relax, with headaches, ear aches, muscle soreness, etc., the list goes on and on.”
Williams said oils can appeal to every mother because of the wide variety of the oils provided, 65 different oils to be exact.
She said for individuals interested in oils can stop by Body Balance Wellness Center to get a reading from the tester to see what oils should be bought.
Plexus is a company that provides all natural products to get people to live a better lifestyle.
Rene Knorzer, Plexus ambassador, said the products provide the most-natural way for individuals to lose weight, add probiotics to your diet, detox and cleanse, and get the proper nutrition your body needs.
“Everyone wants their mothers to be healthy and full of energy, Plexus is a great way to get them on the right track,” Knorzer said. “Once you’re body is rid of the toxins you’ll immediately start to feel better and have more energy. It’s a result you’ll be able to notice and feel the difference.”
Knorzer’s daughter, Sydney, said the product is great and who doesn’t want their mothers to live a healthier lifestyle.
Sydney said when shopping for her mother on Mother’s Day she thinks about the type of person her mother is and what fits her lifestyle.
“My mother and I are very close,” she said. “I know what she likes and for her it’s the little things I notice that make the gift special. She doesn’t need an elaborate gift, just something meaningful and heartfelt. That’s what makes a good Mother’s Day gift for her.”
Other gifts that are great for mothers are jewelry and totes.
Janice George with Premier Designs said every woman loves to receive jewelry. She also said jewelry allows individuals to express their individuality with the pieces they choose to wear.
Thirty-One bags were spotted throughout the convention center on attendees’ shoulders. Thirty-One offers a wide variety of different style totes, wallets, purses, thermals and more with the option to choose from several different colors and patterns. The company also sells jewelry. The totes are described as beneficial, long lasting, sturdy and strong.
Andrea Hockemier said her mother is a very important person in her life. She said when picking out her Mother’s Day gift, she thinks about what her mother would use.
“She loves candles and lotions,” Hockemier said. “She loves her house to smell inviting when guests come over. I also want the gift to be unique, my mother is a unique person so I want the gift to fit her.”
Each year the event chooses one charity to donate proceeds too and this year Revivals Health was the lucky charity. Revivals Health is an organization that supports cancer patients and survivors with the process.
Elaine Brannon, founder and director, said she is appreciative of the generosity Smotherman showed by choosing her charity.
“We are thankful for the support we have been shown,” Brannon said. “Our organization provides support to breast cancer survivors with anything that they might need. So this will help with us supporting the survivors.”
