Triathletes have numerous options throughout the year in Northern Nevada including at Pyramind Lake.
The 2015 Pyramid Lake Sprint Triathlon is open for registration through www.athleteinyou.com.
Athletes will navigate a ½-mile swim, 14-mile bike ride and 3-mile run starting from Sutcliffe Marina. The event starts at 8 a.m.
Additional registration will be on July 30 at Eclipse Pizza, 3950 Mayberry Dr. in Reno, which is also the day for registered athletes to pick up their race packets from 4-7 p.m.
Late entries will be accepted on race day form 6:30-7:30 a.m.
Pyramid Lake is 33 miles north of Reno on State Route 445. From Interstate 80, take Pyramid Way exit 19 and proceed north 33 miles.
For the past 10 years the Reno Area Triathletes have been the race directors for the Pyramid lake Triathlon. The rare feature with this event and with the triathlon club is to give all proceeds from the race back to the community, with more $100,000 to local non-profits over the past 10 years.
The Southwest Region of USAT is sponsoring a series of developmental sprint races to encourage youth (ages 13-15) and juniors (ages 16-19) athletes to participate in triathlons. Each event winner will receive an award provided by the region, as well as ranking points. The last event of the season will crown the series champions. Pyramid Lake Sprint Triathlon is proud to be part of this race series.

The course is expected to feature 68-72 degree water in the lake, although wetsuits are recommended.
For the cycling, it is a fast course with a few rolling hills. The course goes north on State Route 445 to Warrior Point then returns to the marina.
The run is a flat and fast loop navigating south of the marina via pavement and an old railroad grade.
