Bernice “Martin” King, 98 of Redding, CA, passed away April 8, 2015 at Cooper Ridge Care Center. She was born in Hayward, CA, the youngest of six children. After her marriage in 1936 she lived in several California cities settling in Fallon, Nevada before her final move to Redding in 1996 to be close to family. Bernice worked in clerical and accounting positions throughout her life adding the title of part time rancher after her husband’s retirement. She helped him with their small dairy while living in Turlock, CA and after moving to Fallon they raised hogs before his health declined.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Rose (Lemos) Martin, husband Elmo King, brother Edward Martin, sisters Dorothy Silveira, Lydia Moniz, Margaret Rohrer, Rose Nunes, and nephew John A. Moniz. She is survived by nieces Margery Gumm, Janet Dake, & Kathy Fontes, nephews John & Norman Nunes, Ronald Rohrer, Tom & Robert Martin, and their families. Bernice was strong of body and spirit displaying a quick wit and big smile. She will be missed by all. Interment will be in Fallon, NV and at her request there will be no services.
