Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8660 of Dayton recently recognized two individuals. Both were recommended by their supervisors at the Central Lyon County Fire District.

Don Cummings was awarded the 2014 Fireman of the Year. Cummings started his career as a volunteer and soon became a professional. He is always motivated and takes every opportunity to increase his knowledge and skills. He volunteers for any task necessary for the smooth operation of the department.

The 2014 Emergency Medical Technician of the Year was presented to Jesse Siri for striving for perfection on the job. He provides emergency medical treatment, sometimes in very difficult situations. His life-saving skills have helped save many lives.
