Carson City Library is offering a class about how to use the Foundation Directory Online, a database that provides information about grant makers and their funding activities worldwide, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.
To pinpoint prospective funders, patrons will learn how to search the database by grant makers, companies, grants, and 990s. With geographic search tools, patrons will learn how to zoom in on regional and local grant makers. They can choose from more than 1,100 indexed search terms or keyword-search. Interactive maps and charts show a funder’s giving trends, and patrons can click through to see recipient lists and grant details.
The Foundation Directory Online is a service of the Foundation Center; Carson City Library is among the more than 470 Funding Information Network locations (formerly known as Cooperating Collections) which provide free access to a variety of databases of foundations and other grant funders through the Foundation Center.
Seating is limited; register early for the class. Go to www.carsoncitylibrary.org/use/two-classes.
