Santoyo joins Nevada Rural Housing Authority

Norma Santoyo is joining the Nevada Rural Housing Authority as director of human resources and administration, a role in which she’s going to focus on the overall development of the agency by streamlining administrative processes, bolstering efficiency and effectiveness between departments, and improving NRHA’s human resources.

Santoyo has worked in state and local government human resource management for more than 22 years, most recently serving as the human resources manager for Douglas County and, before that, chief human resources officer for Nevada Department of Public Safety. From Durango, Mexico, she earned her bachelor’s in business management from the University of Nevada, Reno, and her MBA from the University of Phoenix. She also earned her Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and Human Resources Senior Certified Professional. She’s a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, Public Risk Management Association, and the Human Resource’s Certification Institute. She also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate to make sure children are also in good homes.

Certified Site initiative aims to diversify area’s economy

RCM Realty Group and the Northern Nevada Development Authority announced the approval of the first NNDA Nevada Certified Site, a 46-acre industrial site on Arrowhead Drive, adjacent to the Carson City Airport.

The NNDA Nevada Certified Site designation serves as a pre-qualification for buyers and site selectors, indicating a property’s title is clear, that it possesses sufficient utilities and other infrastructure for commercial use, and that it’s properly zoned and has adequate transportation access for such uses among other criteria. NNDA sponsors the program to enhance the region’s appeal to companies not located in Northern Nevada.

For a site to be Certified, it must be available with a firm price; it must be fully served by utilities and transportation access; and it must be ready for permitted development within a defined and known period of time.
