Animal colors. M. Nicholas Wagner has experimented and discovered the cause of the colors of some animals. The experiments were made on the nymph of a species of diurnal butterfly. Electric current changed the reds into orange and the blacks into red. He deduced that the colors are due to the currents in the wing of the animal (Intellectual Observer).

Edward G. Winnie. Mr. Winnie died at his residence at the Willows Ranch caused by a gradual wasting of the vital energies. He was in his 74th year. He leaves a wife and family. He has resided in Ormsby County for many years and his place was always open for hospitality. The deceased bequeaths to his children a life-long record of honorable dealing and a stainless life.

The race. There was a hot horse race down Main street. Sheriff Kinney held up his cane to stop the riders, but they continued on as far as the Mint and turned around. Down the street they came as fast as their nags could leg it. The sheriff finally halted the pair and the two would be “Tod Sloans” were landed in the calaboose. It was a case of too much booze and too little judgment.

Wandering bottles. John D. Winters, manager of the Sanitary Dairy, warns Carson citizens, to send back your milk bottles. There is a nationwide shortage. Without milk bottles, there can be no milk deliveries.

Photo caption. This is becoming a familiar scene in Carson City. The Jack Bird demolition crew is removing the old Rochon private residence, one of 25 units throughout the Capitol complex purchase two years ago by the state to make room for new building sites, off street parking and landscaping.

Internet. There are not too many people in Carson City on the Internet, but that number is growing. “When you look at the total population, percentage-wise, the number is still minuscule,” said Bruce Komito of Sierra-Net.
