Drake Anthony Slocum, 21, this week entered guilty pleas to one count of sexually assaulting a girl under age 16 and one count of incest.

He was arrested in March after the victim, then 14, told detectives the assaults had been going on for some time, according to Carson City Sheriff’s Det. Sal Acosta.

Slocum was originally charged with one count of sexual assault of a child under 14 and three counts of sexual assault of a child under 16 as well as four other sex related crimes. He originally pleaded not guilty. However, with a Dec. 1 trial looming, he changed his plea this week, admitting to one count of sexually assaulting a minor under age 16 and one count of incest, both Category A felonies.

The sexual assault count requires a life sentence with parole possible after a minimum of 25 years in prison. Incest has a maximum sentence of life, also with possible parole.

Assistant District Attorney Kristin Luis said District Judge James Wilson set sentencing in the case for Jan. 5.
